Brazilian composer Antônio Carlos Jobim (1927–1994) wrote Waters of March ("‘Águas de Março’ ") in 1972. It's a stream of consciousness affirmation of life set against chords that constantly move downwards, like the waters of March cascading downstream. It's one of Jobim's most popular compositions, and was selected as the most popular song of all time in a 2001 Brazilian poll.
